Chad Pennington to Become Fox Analyst

Chad Pennington to Skip 2011 NFL Season

Miami Dolphins quarterback Chad Pennington says that he will skip the 2011 NFL season so that he can recover from injuries. And since he will have no playing obligations, Pennington has signed up to serve as an analyst for Fox Sports.

"I'm actually going to take this year off, get healthy and do some work for Fox Sports," Pennington told the Charleston Daily Mail. "I'm going to evaluate things and see where I am physically."

Pennington tore his ACL in March while playing basketball. He also suffered a major injury to his throwing shoulder during the season.

He has signed a one-year contract with Fox Sports.

"He came to Los Angeles for an audition a few weeks ago and we think he has a chance to be a pretty successful analyst," said Fox Sports spokesman Dan Bell.

Pennington, who turns 35 on Sunday, was scheduled to become a free agent once the lockout ends.
