NATO officials have confirmed an unmanned U.S. helicopter drone collecting intelligence in Libya crashed Tuesday. Spokesman Wing Commander Mike Bracken said the command centre reported losing contact with the MQ-8 Fire Scout at 7:20 a.m. The drone crashed near the central town of Zintan.
"We are looking into the reasons behind the incident," Bracken said.
Another official said there “was no indication” that the drone was shot down.
Bracken also denied Libyan television reports claiming and Apache helicopter, which is an attack helicopter, had crashed in Zintan. "NATO confirms it has not lost any attack helicopter," he said.
