HAVE RV? LIKE TO TRAVEL?

Like-Minded Rvers Will Rendezvous In October

Heber Springs, AR.   June 23, 2011

Many RVers expressed their disappointment at not being able to attend the Workamper Rendezvous this past April, so Workamper News, Inc. will present an almost identical Rendezvous October 18-20, 2011.  The first Rendezvous that Workamper News held was very successful.

“You don’t actually have to be a member of Workamper News to attend,” said Steve Anderson, President and Director of Possibilities.  Half of the attendees of the spring Rendezvous were Workamper “dreamers” or “wannabes.”  [Workamper News, Inc. actually has a website just for Dreamers-- for those that hope to someday be able to travel in their RV and find great jobs to support their RV lifestyle].

The mix of Workampers and Dreamers at the first Workamper Rendezvous was very productive.  Experienced Workampers enjoyed sharing their knowledge with the Dreamers, as well as networking and learning about job and volunteer opportunities from other Workampers through Roundtable sessions and during meals and entertainment events.   RV Lifestyle experts provided great informational presentations from job seeking, writing resumes and interviewing techniques to RV repairs and maintenance, and cooking in your RV.  Of great interest were the sessions on how Workampers can take legitimate deductions as a Workamper or as a small business person on the road, thereby sending less money to the IRS.  A few employers will also be in attendance in order to showcase their opportunities and recruit employees. A representative from Amazon, Inc. will again be presenting and recruiting for Workamper employees for their fulfillment centers during busy holiday seasons.  The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will highlight their opportunities as well.

This time, special guest Mark J. Kohler, attorney, CPA, entrepreneur, best-selling author, national speaker, radio show host, news contributor, and pundit will present at the October Rendezvous in person. At the previous Rendezvous, Kohler was introduced via SKYPE, and accomplished two short presentations—one of them while on a train-- thanks to technology. By special request of past attendees, he will be speaking “live” at the October Rendezvous.  Mark Kohler is known as the nation's leading voice for entrepreneurs and small business owners, having taught thousands of people how to take control of their own financial future and steer their business to success, through his powerful business, tax, and legal strategies.

The Rendezvous will once again be held at the state-of-the-art conference facilities at the Heber Springs Community Center. Attendees have their choice of several U.S. Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds to choose from around Greers Ferry Lake for the three-day event. A barbeque and local entertainment will be held under the Shelter at Dam Site Marina.

Many Rendezvous attendees praised Workamper News on the first go-round.  Here’s just one sample--

“During my military career of 28 years, I attended some big conferences & schools and the presentation of this 1st Rendezvous has been on par with the BEST of those.  The attention to detail—individualized binders; quality of the graphics and powerpoint presentations; the facility and comfort and convenience it offered; the value of the seminars and information gathered from the very articulate presenters—the networking opportunities have been fantastic! We have thoroughly enjoyed this experience”  Jim & Pam Morse

On Friday, October 21, 2011, after the end of the Workamper Rendezvous, there will be several worthwhile Bonus Day offerings.

About Workamper News

Workamper News began as a subscription newsletter distributed to a niche market.  The term Workamper, a registered trademark, was coined to describe anyone who combines any kind of work with the RV camping lifestyle.  Designed to put mostly retired or semi-retired RVers and employers together,  campground jobs was the initial focus In 1987, the year that Greg and Debbie Robus formed Workamper News in Heber Springs, Arkansas.   Additional copies were distributed to a variety of commercial campgrounds, government agencies and organizations affiliated with the outdoor industry.  As the Workamper base grew and more jobs meant more pages, the newsletter became a full-fledged magazine. Today, the issues generally contain at least 62 pages of information about job vacancies from coast to coast and some in Canada, as well as features on great Workamping destinations, Workamper and Employer profiles, and general information pertaining to Workamping and Rving.  The introduction of the world wide web enabled Workamper News to expand its services in 1996, and through the years, online subscriptions and optional participation in a variety of forums, webinars, Hotline job advertisements, bookstore, email services and more has created a membership based organization with over 12,000 members. Today, Workamper News is a corporation owned and hands-on managed by Steve and Kathy Jo Anderson with nine employees and numerous independent partners. Having purchased the business in 2005, they continue to expand the opportunities to both Workampers and Employers.  In February, the business model changed from subscriber based to membership based.
