Young Woman hospitalized after receiving liposuction from phony doctors

By: Daun Lee

Modern society is very concerned with appearance and people will go to extremes to have a perfect figure. Such is the case for a young woman in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

The unnamed 19 year old women contacted people through the internet who performed liposuction on her in an apartment they occupied on Thursday, June 16th. The next evening her mother took her to the hospital. She was bleeding and vomiting and also complained of dizziness.  Medical staff discovered over ten cuts on her body and concluded she had undergone liposuction.

The young woman told police that she underwent the procedure in the back room of an apartment. She paid $1,500 to a woman who identified herself as a doctor. She was given several drugs, which made her unconscious; she awoke later when she was being transported home. She also told police that she overheard the ‘doctor’ and her assistants talking of leaving the country after they performed a few more surgeries.

Police arrested three suspects, Nubia Rojas, Miguel Orozco and Adriana Neibles, and charged them aggravated battery and assault as well as practicing medicine without a license. The trio is in still in a detention center.

These people jeopardized the health of a young woman who most likely sought them out to save money on the procedure. Only a licensed plastic surgeon is qualified to perform liposuction.  The procedure when done by a professional is safe; it may cost a little more but preserving your health is worth it.
