NBA Scores: Paul Pierce Scores 18 points in Fourth to Lift Boston Celtics Past Dallas Mavericks

Paul Pierce scored 31 points including 18 in the fourth quarter, Rajon Rondo finished with his second career triple-double scoring 19 points, grabbing 15 rebound and dishing out 14 assists and Ray Allen added 20 points as the Boston Celtics (44-11) overcame a 15-point deficit in the second half to beat the Dallas Mavericks (31-21) 99-92 on Thursday night.

Dallas looked to have things under control midway through the third quarter as they built a 65-50 lead after Antoine Wright buried a three-pointer but Boston used a 12-2 run to get within 67-62 and trailed 75-69 heading into the final frame.

The Mavericks managed to hold a narrow lead for the first six minutes of the fourth quarter but Pierce put the Celtics in front 85-84 after completing a three-point play. Boston went up 89-86 but Dirk Nowitzki hit a triple and then tied the game at 91-91 on a 12-foot jumper. Pierce then took over hitting a pair of difficult jumpers with less than a minute left and the Celtics iced it on the line.

The Celtics hit 48 percent from the floor and were 26-28 from the free-throw line as they improved to 20-7 on the road this year.
