Drug and Alcohol Addiction has become a prevalent problem in all types of societies worldwide. Neither selective nor targeted in nature, addiction occurs with people from all walks of life, regardless of economic status, ethnicity, sexual gender, or spiritual conviction. Additionally, addiction results from the onset of depression and is twice as likely to occur with women as it does with men. In order to be successful at treating and recovering from Drug and Alcohol Addiction, the psychology behind the addiction needs to be understood.
For the addicted individual, the real challenge isn’t so much admitting that they have a substance abuse problem as much as the difficulty involved in seeking help for the addiction. Drug and Alcohol Addiction treatment centers can be found everywhere and a simple internet search will afford an individual with thousands of choices. As a result, this oftentimes becomes confusing and leads to lots of frustration for the individual that is searching for a treatment and recovery facility that is tailored to meet their needs.
Recovering from Drug and Alcohol Addiction is never easy, especially if the individual has abused these substances for many years. For most of our clients (current and past), the initial stage of treatment is the detoxification process and is by far the most difficult stage of the treatment and recovery process. This can be a harsh and unpleasant experience involving several physical maladies such as:
- Erratic and sometimes violent behavior
- Shaking, sweating, and twitching
- Blackouts, dizziness, and/or fainting spells
- Nausea and vomiting
- Hallucinations
To assist the client while enduring this difficult stage of treatment and recovery, we offer them certain recovery tools to help them cope with what they are undergoing. There are 8 classes or courses that they participate in during this time which include:
- Better Communication and Perception Techniques
- Detoxification for a New Life
- Finding the Way to Happiness
- Improving One’s Learning Capabilities.
- Life’s Changing Conditions
- Life’s Ups and Downs.
- Personal Integrity and Values.
- Therapeutic Training Methods
Additionally, our Drug and Alcohol Addiction treatment programs teach our clients the following three elements in order to enable them to recover successfully:
- The client learns how to be accountable for their actions as well as the consequences that have resulted from their actions.
- The client takes responsibility by following certain guidelines during the Drug and Alcohol Addiction treatment and recovery process specifically, concise instructions given by one of our staff members while supervising them in numerous therapies.
- The client realizes that their substance abuse issues took years to develop and that the Drug and Alcohol Addiction recovery process oftentimes takes a long period of time and will not happen overnight.
