Golf Sponsors Eyeing Grassroots Golf Program

Prospective golf sponsors have a new golf program to tap into in order to make one-on-one contact with golfers throughout the United States. The program is the U.S. Putting Tour and it provides companies and brands with an affordable way to reach golfers at their local private clubs and public courses.

The U.S. Putting Tour, which launched earlier this year, plans to expand its outreach to golfers in 2012 in the form of nationwide club putting championships. These events also will serve to qualify the top finishers and the host club professionals for the 2012 USPT Championship late in the year.

"We plan to hold club putting championships at upwards of a thousand clubs in 2012," says U.S. Putting Tour president, Jim Hartley. "That means a sponsor can gain direct contact with 50,000 or more golfers to build awareness and trial for their product or service."

Hartley went on to say that this golf marketing program is ideal for car manufacturers who can run test drives at many of the courses in conjunction with the club putting championships. He stated that other likely sponsors included liquor companies, investment firms, insurance providers, and golf equipment manufacturers.

In addition to the grassroots value of sponsoring the U.S. Putting Tour, Hartley indicated that the major sponsors will benefit from the exposure of the national championship, which annually crowns America's Best Putter. Hartley said he expects to gain some television coverage of the 2012 USPT Championship.

This year's championship is being held in late September in Carlsbad, California and Hartley said that companies looking to come on board as tour sponsors for 2012 can do so now and gain added value from participating in the 2011 championship.
