American Cornhole, the governing body of the Sport of Cornhole, begins its Master Series Cornhole Tournament Season February 28, 2009 with the AC IceHole Classic held in five cities throughout the US. Cincinnati and Columbus Ohio; Louisville, Kentucky; Indianapolis, Indiana; and Spartanburg, South Carolina will be hosts to the IceHole Master Series Tournament.
Frank Geers from the ACO, American Cornhole Organization, has great aspirations for this year's Master Series. "No question that our efforts to elevate cornhole the game to cornhole the sport is having results," he said. We sold out the Columbus IceHole Classic in just a few days and the others are moving at a pace to do the same."
For the last several years the American Cornhole Organization has worked toestablish standards in cornhole boards, bags, and cornhole rules, so that cornhole playing would be the same in Virginia as it is in California. It has developed a skill challenge called a SCR Score that helps to determine the quality of play of a player against others in the sport of cornhole.
This year the signifigance of a list called the CornyForty will have greater impact than before. Combined with the player's skill challenge and CornyForty Score the player has a shot at a minimum $10,000.00 purse at the end of the year. All this makes sense to the serious cornhole player whose participation is growing geometrically in these AC Master Series events.
There are six AC Master Series Cornhole Tournaments including; the IceHole Classic, Cornhole deMayo, MaizeKraze, Cornhole Classic, TurkeyHole Classic, and the King of Cornhole in Las Vegas. Any player points earned at any of these TopGun singles events go towards the CornyForty standings of that player provided they are an active 2009 CornyForty Player. Players can sign up to join the CornyForty at any point in the season and both men and women are encouraged to play.
