The United States military has confirmed two soldiers died over the weekend in northern Iraq. The soldiers were conducting operations when they were killed on Sunday. No other details were immediately available. The soldiers’ names will be released after their next of kin are notified of their deaths.
Sunday’s causalities bring the total number of American deaths in Iraq this month to 11. The Associated Press reports the overall death toll in Iraq is 4,465.
Also on Sunday, two Iraqi civilians died and 17 others were wounded in a suicide attack on a police station in Baghdad. Officials say the bomber entered the police station in a wheelchair. "Police inspected him but not very carefully as he was handicapped or pretending to be handicapped, so they let him go inside the police reception area where the blast occurred," a local official said.
