US TV Station Founder Beheads Wife Aasiya Hassan

Muzzammil Hassan, the founder of an Islamic television station in upstate New York, has confessed to murdering his wife Aasiya Hassan.

Authorities say Hassan was arrested Thursday and charged with second degree murder after the decapitated body of Aasiya was found at the Bridges TV station in Orchard Park, a suburb of Buffalo.

Hassan the Orchard Park police station immediately after murdering his wife and confessed to beheading her.

The couple had two children, ages 4 and 6. Aasiya filed for divorce January 6. She had previously made several domestic violence calls to police.  

Hassan launched Bridges TV in 2004. The station is the first English-language cable channel targeting Muslims in America. Hassan previously said he hoped the station would help stop negative views of Muslims following the September 11 attacks.

The Bridges staff released a statement saying they are “deeply shocked and saddened by the murder of Aasiya Hassan and the subsequent arrest of Muzzammil Hassan.”
