New Orleans Hornets Sending Tyson Chandler to Oklahoma City Thunder

The New Orleans Hornets have completed a deal that will send center Tyson Chandler to the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for Joe Smith, Chris Wilcox and the draft rights to Devon Hardin.

Chandler had been the subject of trade rumors for some time as the Hornets were looking to cut payroll but the move now leaves New Orleans without their best interior defender and a major contributor to the club’s success in the first half of the season.

With the 26-year-old Chandler now out of the lineup the Hornets will find it difficult to make a serious playoff push in the Western Conference. Despite Chandler’s struggles with a recurring foot problem New Orleans was ten games over .500 with him playing while just .500 when he wasn’t playing.
