Jesse L. Herrmann, 27, appeared in court on Tuesday for arraignment on charges associated with an accident that killed a Wisconsin woman over the weekend.
Herrmann rear ended a vehicle occupied by five women, all in their early twenties around 4pm on Saturday, June 25th. One woman, Theresa Kroes, who was in the backseat, was killed in the accident. All of the women except Kroes had their safety belts on. All four women were taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Herrmann tried to flee the scene, but bystanders tackled him and held him until authorities arrived. The Prosecutor, Gary Gomez, said “In comments he made to officers, he had consumed too much alcohol to be driving.”
He was charged with homicide intoxicated use of a motor vehicle. He has a prior DUI conviction from 2005, and also a federal conviction of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.
There are an estimated 10 million car accidents on our nation’s roads and many of them result in injuries or death. Usually, these accidents are caused by another person’s negligence which an accident lawyer will work to prove in court.
The victims of these accidents deserve to be compensated for their losses. An accident attorney can be retained to obtain this compensation for accident victims. An accident lawyer can also negotiate with insurance companies to assure the injured receives a fair settlement.
