President Barack Obama Signs Economic Stimulus Plan

President Barack Obama has earned his first major victory of his new presidency after signing the economic stimulus plan into law on Tuesday.

Obama inked his name on the $787 billion stimulus plan at a signing ceremony in Denver, CO, bringing an end to a brutal fight between Democrats and Republicans that clearly showed the division that exists within Congress.

Not a single Republican in the House voted for the plan while only three Republicans in the Senate supported Obama’s economic stimulus package. Republicans have criticized the plan for its heavy spending and have said the tax cuts proposed were too few.

Obama called the stimulus plan “the most sweeping economic recovery package in our history,” a move he said was critical for America to get back on track and avoid a catastrophic economic collapse.
