Watching recovery on the small screen or tracking it via the tabloids, it can seem simple. Make an announcement in the press that you’re seeking treatment, and then appear 30 days later looking rested and ready to resume your career. Anyone who’s struggled with substance abuse knows there’s much more to it that.
Amy Winehouse recently canceled the remainder of her 12-city European concert tour after a disastrous show in Serbia where she was booed off the stage. Video recorded by audience members showed Winehouse apparently having difficulty singing some of the lines of her songs.
Winehouse in Rehab
Prior to embarking on this latest tour, her first outing in some time, Winehouse entered a British rehab program that a representative for the singer said was intended to prepare her for the European concerts. The short stint may not have been enough to prepare her, though.
No one has confirmed that the "Rehab" singer, who has a history of battling drugs and alcohol, had begun drinking or using again, but for many who seek treatment, relapse is part of the process of long-term recovery.
