NBA Scores: Dwight Howard Scores 45 Points as Orlando Magic Edge Charlotte Bobcats in OT

Dwight Howard scored 45 points and grabbed 19 rebounds, Rashard Lewis chipped in 17 points and pulled down 7 boards and Hedo Turkoglu finished with 13 points and 7 assists to lift the Orlando Magic (39-13) to a 107-102 overtime victory over the Charlotte Bobcats (21-32) on Tuesday night.

Howard scored 14 points in the opening frame as the Magic carried a 25-21 advantage into the second but the Bobcats used a 14-2 run to open the quarter to grab a 35-27 lead. Orlando managed to tie the score at 41-41 after J.J. Redick buried a three-pointer with 3:00 left in the half but Charlotte used another run, this time a 9-2 spurt, to carry a 50-43 lead into the break.

Despite 11 points from Howard the Magic still trailed by six, 74-68, at the end of the third quarter and the Bobcats held that advantage until Lewis sank a triple and added a free throw to give the Magic an 81-80 lead. The game remained tight down the stretch but Raja Bell hit a pair of free-throws to give the Bobcats a 95-92 lead with 13 seconds left and it looked like Charlotte would get the road upset. That changed when Redick hit another triple with 8 seconds left and forced the game into an extra frame.

After Bell gave the Bobcats a two-point lead the Magic turned to Turkoglu and Howard who combined for eight straight points and Orlando held a 103-97 lead with 1:10 left and Charlotte had no more answeres.
