Remains of Jeremy Doble, 5, Found in Crocodile

Queensland police said Tuesday the remains of a boy eaten by a crocodile have been found in the stomach of one that was caught in the Daintree River.

Doble, 5, was walking with his 7-year-old brother Ryan Doble behind his family’s home when he disappeared after following his dog into a mangrove swamp.

Ryan saw a crocodile near where his brother went missing and alerted adults. “Dad jumped in after him, but it was too late. His older brother saw it all and will, no doubt, be haunted by that image,” says resident Col Patterson.

DNA tests confirmed the remains in the crocodile’s stomach are those of Jeremy. His family has requested the reptile not be harmed. The animal will live in an Australia zoo or farm.
