Two
Italian nuns kidnapped in Kenya three months ago have been released by their captors
and are now at the Italian embassy in Kenya.
The
Roman Catholic nuns, Maria Teresa Olivero and Caterina Giraudo, were kidnapped
in northern Kenya on Nov. 10 and held in Somalia. Olivero and Giraudo had been
working on hunger and health programs in the district of Mandera when they were
seized by gunmen.
Following
their abduction Pope Benedict XVI appealed for their safe release and on
Thursday the pair were turned over by their captors.
