Lance Armstrong Stolen Bicycle Recovered

Authorities have recovered a one-of-a-kind bicycle belonging to Lance Armstrong that was stolen Saturday after the athlete finished the first day of the Amgen Tour of California.

Police said Wednesday a local man, who did not want to be identified, turned in a bicycle believed to be Armstrong’s. The serial number was matched and police “were able to confirm that the bike was, in fact, Lance Armstrong’s bicycle.”

Sacramento Police Department Sgt. Norm Leong refused to answer how the man came across the bike. Leong said the man “is not a suspect at this time.” The bike appeared to be in good condition.

Armstrong’s bicycle was one of three stolen from his team’s trailer. The two other bikes, belonging to other members of the team, have not been found.

Police say they have information about suspects but are “not putting it out at this time.”

Armstrong announced the theft on his Twitter account Sunday morning. He offered a reward for the return of the bicycle. “There is only one like it in the world therefore hard to pawn it off. Reward being offered,” he wrote.

The man who turned in the bicycle did not ask about the reward.
