Wrestling legend Verne Gagne is under investigation for
his involvement in the death of his roommate at the Bloomington living
facility, Friendship Village.
Gagne and Gutmann, who both suffer from Alzheimer’s
Disease, allegedly got into a fight on January 26. Gutmann, 97, suffered a
broken left and head injury in the fight. He was hospitalized and released
before suffering complications and being hospitalized again. Gutmann died
earlier this week. His exact cause of death is unknown.
Bloomington police are investigated whether Gagne
contributed to the former cancer researcher’s death. It is unclear if he will
be charged due to his mental state. Gagne has been dismissed from Friendship
Village.
Gagne began his wrestling career in 1949. He later hosted
All-Star-Wrestling. Gagne influenced the careers of many other WWE stars
including Hulk Hogan and Jesse Ventura. He was inducted into the World Pro
