UN Nuclear Agency Uncovers Uranium Particles at Alleged Nuclear Facility in Syria

The International Atomic Energy Agency has said they have uncovered particles of uranium at a suspected nuclear facility in Syria, a discovery that apparently contradicts the country’s assertion that the site was not a nuclear reactor.

Syria has maintained that at one time the site had been a military building but has long been unused. In 2007 Israel struck the site with warplanes and the IAEA’s uncovering of uranium particles is now being explained by Syria as remnants from the missiles used.

That explanation has been dismissed by the UN agency which said the likelihood of uranium coming from those missiles were low.
