MLB News: New York Yankees Have Pair of Outfielders Caught in Stanford Freeze

The New York Yankees have grown accustomed to scandals and just as the Alex Rodriguez steroid story begins to become old news the club now has a pair of outfields that have been directly affected by the recent investigation into financer Robert Allen Stanford.

Johnny Damon and Xavier Nady reportedly had investments with Stanford, the target of an SEC investigation into fraudulent claims concerning improbable returns on investments.

Neither Damon nor Nady actually invested directly but had broker dealers who had accounts with a Stanford company. With the investigation ongoing the government has frozen assets in the financer’s companies which include Stanford International Bank, Stanford Capital Management and Stanford Group Co.

Because their credit card accounts have been frozen both players have said they have been unable to pay bills.
