Socks the Cat, Former White House First Feline, Dies at Age 20

Socks the Cat, the former first feline in the Clinton White House days has died after battling throat cancer. Socks was 20-years-old.

 

Socks had been part of the Clinton family since Bill was governor of Arkansas after Chelsea rescued her as a stray.

 

After the Bill Clinton’s eight years in the White House the Clintons sent Socks home with his personal secretary Betty Currie who lived in Maryland. On Friday Currie opted to put Socks to sleep after the cat could no longer stand and had stopped eating.
