Ryan Ayers finished with 28 points and 8 rebounds, Luke Harangody added 18 points and 8 boards and Kyle McAlarney poured in 25 points as the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (15-11, 6-8) knocked off the Providence Friars (16-11, 8-7) 103-84 in Big East play on Saturday.
Providence stayed close to Notre Dame through the first eleven minutes of the opening half but the Irish used a 9-0 run to build a 38-24 lead before settling with a 49-37 advantage at the break. The Friars never challenged in the second half as Notre Dame maintained a double-digit lead throughout.
Ayers finished the game hitting 7-11 from long range while McAlarney hit 4-11 from beyond the arch.
Notre Dame hit 13-28 from beyond the three-point line, a clear advantage over Providence who hit just 5-22 from the same distance.
