California Hostage Situation Ends with One Dead and Two Hospitalized

A hostage standoff in Irvine, California has ended after the gunman surrendered to police but not before killing one and hospitalizing two others.

According to police Alwyn Gibson of Fairfield, Texas took the family of his ex-girlfriend hostage on Friday night. A SWAT team arrived at the scene and negotiations began with Gibson who eventually surrendered around 2:00 a.m. Saturday morning.

After arresting Gibson investigators found the father of the ex-girlfriend had been fatally shot and the mother and a brother had been wounded. The ex-girlfriend did not live at the home and was not there at the time of the standoff.
