Kobe Bryant finished with 28 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists, Lamar Odom added 25 points and 14 boards and Pau Gasol chipped in 25 points as the Los Angeles Lakers (46-10) went on the road and sneaked past the Minnesota Timberwolves (18-37) 111-108 on Sunday for their fourth straight win.
The game was tight throughout as the Timberwolves carried an 80-78 advantage into the fourth quarter and Rodney Carney extended the Minnesota lead to 89-84 with 8:37 left in the game but LA used a 6-0 spurt to grab the lead. It looked like the Lakers would take control of the game after Luke Walton buried a three-pointer for a 101-97 advantage with 2:32 left but Mike Miller answered with a triple to cut the LA lead to one.
Derek Fisher then hit a three to extend the lead to four only to have Ryan Gomes counter with a three-pointer and the Timberwolves were within 104-103 with 1:36 on the clock. Kobe then hit a jumper and Sebastian Telfair answered to keep the Minnesota deficit at one. Bryant then attempted a three-point and missed but Odom tipped it in and after Gomes missed a three that would have tied the game Bryant hit one of two from the free-throw line to push the lead to four with 15 seconds left in the game. With 9 seconds left Randy Foye hit a three-pointer to get the Wolves within one and after Bryant hit a pair from the line Minnesota had one last shot to force the game into overtime but Foye missed a 31-foot three-pointer and the Lakers escaped with the win.
