NCAA Men’s Basketball AP Top 25: Pittsburgh Back on Top as Connecticut Slides to #2
The
Pittsburgh Panthers have clawed their way back to the #1 spot in the NCAA men’s
basketball AP Top 25 after knocking off the Connecticut Huskies last Monday and
then following that with a drubbing of DePaul on Saturday afternoon.
Despite
their loss to Pittsburgh the Connecticut Huskies fell just one spot to #2 this
week after following the setback with a win over South Florida.
The
Oklahoma Sooners also dropped a spot to #3 after they fell to the Texas
Longhorns in Big 12 play but a greater concern will be the health of Blake
Griffin who sustained a concussion in the loss and remains questionable for their
game against the Kansas Jayhawks on Monday night.
North
Carolina also saw a slip in their position as they moved to #4 after losing an overtime
thriller to the Maryland Terrapins in ACC play on Saturday. The Tar Heels don’t
play again until next Saturday when they host Georgia Tech.
The
Memphis Tigers are the only Top 10 team from a week ago to remain in their same
spot as they continue this week as the #5 team in the country. Memphis will
face their last real challenge in conference play this week when they travel to
take on UAB on Feb. 26
