An
11-year-old Pennsylvania boy accused of murdering his father’s pregnant
girlfriend will be tried as an adult according to Lawrence County District
Attorney John Bongivengo.
Bongivengo
has said the decision to charge Jordan Brown as an adult was only due to the fact
the state does not permit him to file criminal homicide charges in a juvenile
court. As a result, Brown is now being held in the county jail but has been
separated from adult inmates.
Brown
stands accused of using a 20-gauge shotgun, a gift he received for Christmas,
to kill his father’s girlfriend, Kenzie Marie Houk. Police say Brown shot Houk
in the back of the head on Friday morning and then left the house and went to
school.
A
911 call was placed by some tree trimmers who were told by Houk’s youngest
daughter that her mother appeared dead.
Jordan
Brown has not confessed to the crime and his attorney, Dennis Elisco, has
scoffed at suggestions that Brown was motivated to kill Houk by jealousy.
Houk
was eight-months pregnant at the time and was said to be engaged to marry Brown’s
father.
