Blake
Griffin will be held out of Monday night’s Big 12 matchup between his #3 Oklahoma
Sooners (25-2, 11-1) and the visiting #15 Kansas Jayhawks (22-5, 11-1) as he
recovers from a concussion he sustained in Saturday’s loss to the Texas
Longhorns.
Griffin
visited doctors on Monday and the decision to rest the Player of the Year candidate
was made.
The
concussion was sustained in the first half of the Texas game as Griffin took an
accidental open hand to the head from Longhorns’ center Dexter Pittman. He
played just 11 minutes in the game and the Sooners fell 73-68 as the Longhorns
took advantage of Griffin’s absence.
Griffin
has been averaging 22 points per game while leading the nation with 13.8
rebounds.
