This automatic gain control software consists of two parts: voice activity detection and gain control. It boasts wide dynamic range, low data and program memory requirements and selectable depth and envelop of the gain control. It consists of two user-callable functions, AGCinit and AGC. This AGC software adaptively controls the dynamic range of a speech signal without amplifying the noise between words and phrases. It effectively reduces the volume if the signal is strong and raises it when it is weaker. The AGC software is implemented in assembly or C. In addition, it integrates easily with MP3, MPEG, TCP/IP and most popular real-time operating system.
