Michael Phelps Will Return to Pool for Charlotte UltraSwim in May

Michael Phelps will return to competitive swimming after his three-month suspension is lifted and his first meet will be the Charlotte UltraSwim on May 14-17.

Phelps has been serving his suspension after he was photographed with a marijuana bong and while the Olympic great never admitted to actually smoking marijuana he accepted the suspension from USA Swimming without dispute.

The May Grand Prix event will be Phelps first tune-up for July’s world championships in Rome.

Phelps collected a record eight gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and a total of 14 gold medals, another record.
