Spain Open to Taking Some Inmates Released from Guantanamo Bay

Spain has said they were open to the idea of taking in some inmates from the military camp run by the U.S. in Guantanamo Bay but stressed it would be on a case-by-case basis only.

Foreign Minister Angel Moratinos made the announcement shortly after meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in Washington.

Clinton had appealed to Moratinos to help in solving the problems related to prisoner placement as Guantanamo Bay prepares to shut down. In one of his first acts as President Barack Obama ordered the military camp to be closed within a year.

There are currently 250 people still held at the military camp.
