Through SuperCamp’s summer parent support program, Parent Weekend, parents have the opportunity to send themselves back to summer camp to take in the same summer enrichment experience as their kids. Parents of 11 to 18-year-olds who are enrolled in one of SuperCamp’s academic summer camps learn a lot about themselves, their kids, and how they can better support them in an energizing, enlightening three day program.
During the 3-day weekend, parents gain valuable knowledge into many of the same real-life skills their children learn through their 10-day residential SuperCamp experience. From mid-day Friday until Sunday’s graduation, parents take in a non-stop course that helps them understand, support, and interact with their kids better than ever before.
Parent Weekend facilitators challenge parents with the same dynamic, interactive Quantum Learning methods of teaching that has inspires SuperCamp students since 1982.
Specific skills that parents learn about, which are also taught in SuperCamp, include Living Above the Line, taking responsibility for one’s own actions, communication skills for apologizing and active listening, social problem solving techniques, and the 8 Keys of Excellence. The program also shows parents the different types of learning styles to help them understand how their kids learn and how to better support their academic endeavors.
