Canadian rock band Barenaked Ladies has announced lead
singer, guitarist and co-founder Stephen Page will be leaving the group.
“By mutual agreement, Steven Page will be parting company
with the remaining members of Barenaked Ladies” to pursue a solo career, the
band announced Wednesday.
Page, who was arrested on drug possession charges in July
2008, released a statement saying, “These guys are my brothers. We’ve grown up
together over the past twenty years. I love them and wish them all the best in
the future.”
The rest of the Barenaked Ladies will continue to record
a tour together. They plan to begin recording their next album in April 2009.
