Alex
Rodriguez may have been greeted by boos but the Yankees third baseman showed no
signs of being affected as he homered and drew a pair of walks in New York’s
6-1 win over the Toronto Blue Jays in their opening spring training game.
A-Rod
hit a two-run blast in the fourth inning, part of a three-run frame for the Yankees
that gave them a 4-1 lead which they never relinquished.
Brett
Garner led off the game with a home run for New York but the Blue Jays tied the
game in the third on a sacrifice fly from Alex Rios. After jumping up 4-1 the Yankees
tacked on a pair of runs in the fifth inning on RBIs from Nick Swisher and Todd
Linden.
Brett
Tomko started for the Yankees and pitched two scoreless innings, allowing just
one hit
