A worker dies in New Jersey after being crushed by concrete barrier

A New Jersey man was crushed while delivering a concrete barrier to work-site on the New Jersey Turnpike early Monday morning around 7:45.

Carmen DiLuzio, 51 year old man delivering five barriers for the Tipton Trucking Company. While he was unloading the concrete blocks from his truck, one fell over on top of him. He has pulled his truck over besides a crane and was loosening the restraints when the barrier overturned. No one else was injured.

The New Jersey Turnpike is being widened for the construction project. The accident did not affect the early morning traffic.

The accident is still under investigation, so it is undetermined if it was caused by anyone’s negligence.
