MLB Spring Training Scores: Jorge Posada Leads NY Yankees Past Tampa Bay Rays

Jorge Posada went 2-2 with a solo homer and an RBI single, Shelley Duncan added a three-run blast and Phil Hughes didn’t allow a hit and collected a pair of strikeouts over two innings as the New York Yankees knocked off the Tampa Bay Rays 5-1 in spring training action on Thursday afternoon.

Tampa got two strong innings from Wade Davis as he struck out three and didn’t allow a hit but the Yankees plated a run in the third when Posada hit a solo home run and then added another in the fifth.

The Rays got on the board in the seventh but in the bottom half of the frame Duncan hit a three-run bomb to give New York a 5-1 cushion.
