Authorities in Southern California arrested a woman this week for cutting off her estranged husband’s penis and mutilating it in a garbage disposal. Orange County police say Catherine Kieu Becker drugged her husband Monday evening before tying him to their bed and cutting off his penis with a 10 inch kitchen knife.
"The victim went to lie down and he woke up tied to the bed with his wife tugging his clothes off. The suspect grabbed the victim's penis and cut it off,” authorities say.
Becker then put her husband’s penis in the garbage disposal and turned it on. She called 911 and told police officers who arrived at the scene that her husband “deserved” what she did to him. The 48-year-old was taken to the Orange County Jail where she was booked on charges of aggravated mayhem, false imprisonment, assault with a deadly weapon, administering a drug with intent to commit a felony, poisoning, and spousal abuse. Becker is being held on $1 million bail.
Becker’s husband underwent surgery at the UCI Medical Center. Authorities have not released the victim’s name or details on his condition.
Court papers show the Beckers were married about a year and a half before starting divorce proceedings in May. Garden Grove Police Lt. Jeff Nightengale says the motive for the attack remains unclear. "On the surface, we have nothing more than the divorce proceeding. We don't have any strong motive leading to this level of violence,” he said. “The intention by this person was to permanently deprive this victim of his genitalia.”
Becker faces life in prison if she is convicted of aggravated mayhem.
