NY Police find Dismembered Body of Missing Hasidic Boy

The remains of a 9-year-old Hasidic boy who disappeared in Brooklyn Monday afternoon have been found and a suspect has been arrested. New York authorities say the body of Leiby Kletzky had been dismembered and was discovered early Wednesday morning in two separate locations. Part of his body was found in the home of 35-year-old man identified as Levi Aron, and the rest of his body had been dumped in a trash can outside an auto repair shop about 2 miles away from Aron’s apartment.

Kletzky was reported missing when he failed to meet up with his mother after attending Boyan Day Camp on Monday. He was last seen walking in the Borough Park community near 44th street and 12th Avenue. Authorities were led to Levi Aron by surveillance videos from the area. Video footage showed Aron walking near Kletzky.

A search of Aron’s apartment uncovered body parts in the refrigerator, a butcher block and large amounts of blood. NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly said Aron apparently killed Kletzky because he “panicked” over police looking for the child.

"This is every parents' nightmare. We understand that. This is what makes this case so horrific,” Kelly added.
