Recent statistics from The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, listed the top three cosmetic surgery procedures for 2010. The top three procedures were breast augmentation, liposuction and blepharoplasty. The introduced their findings at the annual ASAPS meeting in Boston.
In 2010, cosmetic surgeries increased by 9 percent. The number of different procedures performed throughout the country added up more than 9.3 billion procedures.
Since 1997, the number of procedures has increased by 155 percent, which can be attributed to non-surgical procedures like Botox. However, in 2010 the number of non-surgical procedure declined and breast augmentation and liposuction became the most sought after surgeries.
Over fifty percent of the American population now approves of plastic surgery. The number of men undergoing plastic surgery has risen dramatically in the past few years.
Liposuction is a minimally invasive procedure which gives patients the opportunity to target specific areas of the body. The stomach, thighs, back and buttocks are areas of the body that can be resistant to exercise and many women go to plastic surgeons to help them with these regions.
An ideal candidate for liposuction should be at a reasonable weight that they have been able to maintain through proper diet and exercise. Liposuction isn’t meant for the obese. Liposuction allows the patient the chance to sculpt regions of the body which cause them discontent.
Innovations in the industry have made liposuction safe with minimal recovery time.
