A teenager surfing with his father at a northern Sydney beach was attacked by a shark on Sunday leaving him with severe lacerations to his legs.
According to reports the 15-year-old boy was with his father at Avalon when the shark sprung and left him with serious wounds to the upper thigh. After being brought to shore the teenager was airlifted to a hospital where he has been listed in stable condition.
The shark attack was the third in three weeks in Australia and has been blamed on cleaner waters and a recent ban on commercial fishing that has increased the fish population in the area.
