Local Freemasons and Freemasons from around the country have
worked together to raise these funds which were formerly presented to YCT at
Zetland Court, Bournemouth, one of the many Royal Masonic Benevolent Institute
Care Homes, during their Summer fundraising fete held on Saturday 4th June.
Youth Cancer Trust provides free holidays in Bournemouth for young people with
cancer. Eight young people at a time join in activity-based holidays and 240
young people attended last year. The charity aims to reduce the isolation that
young people with cancer suffer as they are separated from their peers by their
illness.
Speaking about the donation, Brenda Clark, Founder of Youth Cancer Trust said, “We
are delighted that The Freemasons' Grand Charity has been generous in providing
the Trust with a grant. It is becoming increasingly understood that providing a
safe environment where young people with cancer can be with other young people
with cancer is critical in the holistic process of a young person’s journey
with cancer. On behalf of us all, including all the young people who stay with
us each year – thank you.”
Clive Deakin, the Deputy Provincial Grand master of Dorset said, “Youth Cancer
Trust is a dedicated organisation seeking to provide comfort and enjoyment to
young people with cancer. We are proud we are able to assist them with their
good work and are delighted to be able to support a local Dorset charity with
£20,000.”
