NCAA Men’s Basketball AP Top 25: Connecticut Huskies Back at #1, North Carolina Tar Heels Land at #2
One
week after surrendering their #1 ranking to Big East rival Pittsburgh the Connecticut
Huskies are back atop the AP Top 25 following a week that included wins over Marquette
and Notre Dame.
For
the Pittsburgh Panthers their time atop the AP Top 25 was brief as they lost to
Providence last Tuesday, their first game after earning the spot with a win
over Connecticut a week earlier. The loss to the Friars sent the Panthers down
to #3 this week.
The
North Carolina Tar Heels jumped two spots to #2 this week after blasting the Georgia
Tech Yellow Jackets in their only game of the week. They’ll have their work cut
out for them this week as they travel to Virginia Tech and then have to face the
Duke Blue Devils on Sunday.
Despite
a loss in the week the Oklahoma Sooners dropped just one spot to #4 as voters
appeared to be willing to overlook the team’s play without Blake Griffin. With
Griffin back in the lineup the Sooners took care of Texas Tech on Saturday and
snap their two game slide.
The
Memphis Tigers held their #5 spot this week with wins over UAB and Southern Miss.
to remain perfect in Conference USA play.
