Boater Nick Schuyler Found Clinging to Boat, 3 Missing

One of four boaters who went missing off of Clearwater Saturday was found alive Monday. Authorities say Nick Schuyler was found clinging to an overturned boat. His condition is not known.

Three others, including NFL stars Marquis Cooper and Corey Smith, are still missing. Schuyler, Cooper, Smith and William Bleakley went out on a 21-foot center console boat Saturday for fish. Friends and family became worried when the men didn’t come back Saturday evening as planned. A friend of Cooper’s contacted the Coast Guard with the coordinates of where the men were supposed to be fishing. The first search was launched early Sunday morning but was hampered by high winds.  

Coast Guard Petty Officer Robert Simpson told CNN Schuyler said a wave flipped the boat over during a storm and he and his friends held on to the hull.

“It feels like my greatest fear coming true – it doesn’t feel real. I’m just waiting for a phone call,” says Cooper’s wife Rebekah.

Cooper currently plays for the Oakland Raiders. Smith, a free agent, has played for the Detroit Lions for the past three seasons.
