French
police have arrested a man they believe responsible for sending death threats
to President Nicolas Sarkozy as well as several other top-ranking politicians.
According
to police the man made the death threats in letters that were addressed to nine
French politicians and inside the envelopes the man included bullets. Each of the
nine letters sent by the man ended with “This letter is the last. There will be
a black out. Total silence.”
Police
were able to track down the man and arrested him at his home in Montpellier. He
was described as a military reservist in his 40s.
Among
the other politicians to receive the death threats; Justice Minister Rachida
Dati, Interior Minister Michelle Alliot-Marie, Culture Minister Christine
