Mexican Prison Riot Leaves at least 20 Dead, Several Inmates Injured

A prison riot started by rival gangs in Mexico’s Ciudad Juarez has left at least 20 people dead and several more injured.

According to reports at least three separate gangs became involved in a fight on Wednesday and that escalated into a full-scale riot in which inmates were stabbed or beaten to death.

Riot police and soldiers were called into the prison and about three hours into the melee order was restored.

Ciudad Juarez, near the Mexico-U.S. border, has been a major battleground among rival drug gangs as they look to establish control and push their drugs north.
