NBA Scores: Dwyane Wade Puts Up Huge Numbers to Lead Miami Heat Past Phoenix Suns

Dwyane Wade scored 35 points, dished out 16 assists and grabbed 6 rebounds, Michael Beasley added 28 points and 9 boards and Daequan Cook chipped in 27 points as the Miami Heat (32-28) held off the Phoenix Suns (34-27) 135-129 on Wednesday night.

Wade scored 19 points in the opening frame as the Heat carried a 40-29 advantage into the second quarter. Miami’s lead was pushed to 59-47 when Mario Chalmers hit a three-pointer with 3:58 left in the half but the Suns used an 11-3 run to climb to within 62-58.

Phoenix then made an early run in the third quarter and after Steve Nash completed a three-point play with a free-throw the Suns were within one but the Heat wouldn’t surrender the lead and actually extended their lead to 104-95 heading into the fourth. The Suns were as close as 123-119 with two minutes left in the game after Shaquille O’Neal dunked but Wade answered with a jumper and then hit a pair of free-throws and the Suns couldn’t respond with a serious run.

Miami finished shooting 57% from the floor and hit 26-29 from the free-throw line while Phoenix shot 55% on the night but was just 19-29 from the charity stripe. The two teams combined to shoot 27-51 from beyond the three-point line.
