Israel Calls “Construction Vehicle Attack” Act of Terrorism, Driver Shot and Killed

The driver of a construction vehicle that rammed a police car in West Jerusalem was shot and killed on Thursday in what Israeli officials are calling an act of terrorism.

According to witnesses the driver rammed the police car, flipped it and began dragging it down the road toward a bus that had been stopped in traffic on the Begin Highway in Malha. A taxi driver said he fired four shots at the construction vehicle and then a police officer used an M-16 to kill the driver.

There have been no claims of responsibility but Hamas leaders have praised the attack.

Tension remains high between Hamas and Israel following a three-week offensive launched by the Israeli military that decimated much of Gaza. While both Hamas and Israel have agreed to unilateral ceasefires there have been sporadic attacks carried out by each side.
