Michigan woman sentenced to jail for drugged driving

By: Daun Lee

A Jacksonville, Michigan judge revoked the bond of a woman, who was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs. Christin Devine-Martin has been arrested for drugged driving four times since early June, on two occasions she had her children in the vehicle.

Devine-Martin was arrested last week and has a previous conviction for intoxicated driving. She was on bond for a previous arrest. In early June, she was caught driving under the influence, and possession of less than 25 gram of cocaine. She had two of her children in the car, one age 7 and the other age 2, and police allege she was on methadone, but results from a blood test will take weeks for processing.

She was arrested again in early July with her two year old in the car and booked, once again, for drugged driving.

Any person with multiple DUI arrests is in dire need of the most skilled DUI attorney they can find.

Devine-Martin’s attorney says she has back problems and takes the prescription drugs for pain.

The judge in her case believes she has an addiction to prescription drugs, and will allow her release only if she enters a treatment facility, citing she is a danger to the community. In cases of multiple intoxicated driving arrests, a DUI lawyer can negotiate to have their clients enter rehab as part of their sentencing.

Addiction to prescription drugs is a growing problem and many people get arrested for drugged driving. A DUI attorney can help anyone charged whether they were drunk or under the influence of drugs.
