Israel Closes Embassy in Mauritania

Israel has closed its embassy in Mauretania following two months of frozen relations between the two countries.

The relationship between the two countries became fractured after Israel’s military offensive in Gaza. Shortly after Israel’s three-week operation Mauritania recalled its ambassador to Israel and talks between the two sides ceased.

Mauritania had been just one of three members of the 22-member Arab League to hold full diplomatic ties with Israel, now leaving just Egypt and Jordan in that position.

Israel reportedly took down its flag overnight and removed its security measures.
