Josh
Beckett threw three scoreless innings, allowing three hits while striking out
two, Josh Reddick went 3-5 and Jed Lowrie finished the day 2-3 with a double
and an RBI as the Boston Red Sox beat the Florida Marlins 5-3 in spring
training action on Friday.
The
Red Sox jumped to a 2-0 lead in the second inning on a two-run homer from Zach
Daeges but the Marlins tied the game in the top of the fifth as Hideki Okajima gave
up a solo blast to Cameron Maybin and a double to John Baker.
Boston
answered in the bottom half of the frame with three runs of Taylor Tankersley
who managed to record just two outs in the inning before being lifted. Florida plated
a run in the seventh before Adam Mills came on and pitched scoreless ball over the
final two innings to seal the win for the Red Sox.
